This Halloween, the living are invited to uncover stories from those who have passed during TalkDeath’s annual Cemetery Scavenger Hunt at Greenwood Cemetery in Orlando.
Participants will spend an afternoon among the historic headstones, searching for clues related to the cemetery’s rich past, which dates back to the 1880s and includes the graves of noted individuals such as baseball star Joe Tinker and former Mayor Bob Carr. Local lore suggests that not all souls rest quietly, with tales of ghostly children and wandering Confederate soldiers.
Each participant has one hour to unravel clues and capture photographs of corresponding graves and monuments. This free event aims to promote discussions about mortality and reframe cemeteries beyond mere burial sites. Those who successfully identify 13 clues or take the most inventive photos will win prizes.
Event details: 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 25, at Greenwood Cemetery, located at 1603 Greenwood St. More information can be found at talkdeath.com.
