Orkin Reveals Florida’s Rankings in Latest Rodent Infestation Report

This month, Orkin, a pest-control company, published its updated list of the cities in America with the highest rat populations, identifying several Florida metros in the rankings.

The rankings were based on the number of rodent treatments conducted in homes between August 2025 and August 2026. Los Angeles tops the list for the second consecutive year due to its favorable climate and resources for rodents. Officials from Orkin pointed out that the conditions in Los Angeles allow rats to thrive.

In Florida, while none of the cities made the top 10, Tampa is ranked 22nd, Miami 26th, and Orlando 32nd. Orkin’s National Technical Director, Dr. Shannon Sked, emphasized that no city is completely free from rodent issues, indicating the importance of prevention and early detection for homeowners.

Rodents can damage property and transmit diseases, so Orkin recommends sealing small openings, fixing leaks, maintaining trash bins, and consulting with pest control professionals to manage rodent problems effectively. The complete top 50 list is also provided in the report, showcasing congested urban areas as hotspots for rodent activity.
