A serious collision occurred on State Road 429, north of State Road 438, resulting in one death and several injuries, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. The incident took place around 11:15 p.m. on Friday and involved a 2016 Jeep Cherokee, a 2012 Hyundai Sonata, a 2025 Kia Sportage, and a 2017 Chevrolet Camaro, all traveling southbound near mile marker 24.
Officials stated the Jeep Cherokee and Hyundai Sonata were in the inside center lane, with the Sonata in front. The Chevrolet Camaro was positioned behind them. Following the collision, the Hyundai was struck by the Camaro. An 18-year-old male passenger in the Hyundai was pronounced dead at the scene, while others, including two female passengers aged 16 and 14, were taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Kia remained uninjured at the scene. The cause of the incident remains under investigation.
