ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — In a dramatic game on Saturday, Keyone Jenkins connected on a 2-yard touchdown pass to tight end Grayson Brousseau during the second overtime, allowing UCF to defeat No. 2 BYU 39-31. This victory marks UCF’s first win against a top-5 team in the program’s history.
Trailing and needing both a touchdown and a 2-point conversion to extend the game into a third overtime, the Cougars (6-1, 3-1 Big 12) made it to the UCF 4-yard line. However, Bear Bachmeier’s fourth-down pass intended for Walker Lyons was incomplete. Earlier in the game, UCF seemed poised to win in regulation when Jenkins lost the ball, but after review, it was ruled an incomplete pass rather than a sack, and BYU was penalized for unsportsmanlike conduct, bringing UCF into field goal range. Nonetheless, BYU managed to block Will Stone’s 47-yard attempt, leading to overtime.
