Waymo Expands Orlando Service Area, Now Covering Downtown and Ivanhoe Village

Waymo’s robot taxi service in Orlando is broadening its reach beyond the popular tourist corridor.

Waymo Nearly Doubles Orlando Service Area, Adding Downtown and Ivanhoe Village

Waymo’s robot taxi service in Orlando is broadening its reach beyond the popular tourist corridor. On Tuesday, October 27, the company revealed that it would be increasing its service area by 53 square miles, which nearly doubles its operational coverage to a total of 120 square miles.

This expansion enhances service availability further east and introduces additional downtown locations, incorporating key spots such as City Hall, the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, and the Orlando Science Center.

Initially launched in Orlando in February, Waymo’s service centered on tourist areas, though certain downtown regions were included. After allowing general access to rides in April, Waymo has consistently increased its operational footprint. Users can request rides using the Waymo app, as long as they are within the designated service area.
