Orlando food news: Tako Cheena moves back home; new cookbook from Pulapaka

Amor y Chile Mexican Restaurant is set to bring its flavorful offerings to College Park, taking over the former Tornatore’s Ristorante and Italian Market at 3818 Edgewater Drive. The restaurant will feature a diverse menu with favorites like chilaquiles veracruzanos, molcajete, and bistec encebollado, anticipated to open this fall.

Meanwhile, Tako Cheena is relocating back to its former site at 932 N. Mills Ave., where it previously operated before moving to its current address at 948 N. Mills Ave. This space was most recently occupied by Pop’s Pizzeria, a venture by Tako Cheena’s owner, Edgardo Guzman. An official opening date has yet to be announced.

Additionally, Oh Que Bueno is expanding with a new location in Altamonte Springs, set to open by the end of the year at 1049 E. Altamonte Drive, within the former Bubbalou’s Bodacious BBQ space. Furthermore, Sen Thai Noodle House will make its debut in the Marketplace at Dr. Phillips, replacing Tawa Modern Indo-Pak Cuisine at 7536 Dr. Phillips Blvd.

Redlight Redlight has appointed Nicole Matta, formerly of Kaya, as its new head chef, succeeding Emily Kaneff, who is relocating to Philadelphia. Kaneff took over from previous chef Jes Tantalo earlier this year when she moved to North Carolina.

Lastly, Hari Pulapaka, the senior culinary director at 4Roots and a James Beard Award nominee, will release his new cookbook, ‘Beans, Green & Lentils,’ showcasing protein-packed plant-based recipes on December 8. More details can be found at beansgreenslentils.com.
