A new player in the hand roll scene is coming to town as Omakai Hand Roll Bar, originating from Miami and linked to Omakai Sushi, prepares to open in Mills 50 next year. This establishment will feature an intimate dining experience with a counter setup, focusing on serving freshly made temaki directly from chefs to diners.

The restaurant will be located at 845 N. Mills Ave., within the building previously occupied by Ultimate Carts. While a specific opening date has yet to be announced, renovations are required to make the venue restaurant-ready, indicating that the launch will not occur this year.

Omakai plans to offer high-quality hand rolls with toasted nori for an optimal crunch, utilizing fish and seafood sourced from various global regions, including Japan and the Pacific Northwest. Beverage options will include beer, wine, and sake. Furthermore, the establishment is expected to expand quickly, with additional locations in several cities, including Chicago and Boca Raton, currently in the works.
