For those who feel they’ve had enough of the spooky season but still want to enjoy Halloween, the inaugural weekend of PlayFest is the perfect destination. Attendees can look forward to staged readings of six compelling plays along with an opportunity to participate in a talkback session with the playwright and the production team afterwards.
This opening weekend highlights notable works including Their Eyes Were Watching God by James Ijames, The Boy King in Queens by Tammy Ryan, and Luca & Uri by Nicholas Pilapil. The following weekend will present three distinctly different plays. This event has served as a crucial platform for nurturing bold new voices in drama locally, making it worthwhile to attend even if it means arriving late to Halloween festivities.
